Neurology

Patients suffering from all neurological diseases receive comprehensive, interdisciplinary care in the Neurological Clinic. The clinic has a stroke unit, enabling it to provide acute care for patients who have suffered a stroke. It offers all the main diagnostic methods and enables patients to benefit from intensive early rehabilitation, in order to enable lost bodily functions to be exercised in a targeted manner. The clinic is also a recognised treatment centre for multiple sclerosis. Patients with acquired and congenital muscular diseases which are rare in some cases, are examined, advised and treated in the certified „Muskelzentrum Ruhrgebiet" (Ruhr Area Muscle Centre) also beyond the Ruhr area. The Clinic’s team not only comprises physicians, neurophysiologists and physiotherapist and ergotherapists, but also neurologically specialised nursing staff, speech therapists, music therapists and social workers. As an interdisciplinary team, they ensure that the patients receive customised and comprehensive treatment.

The occupational accident insurance specialism of the clinic is a special department for neurological traumatology and neurorehabilitation. This is where patients suffering from severe craniocerebral injuries and from other neurological or psychiatric accident-related symptoms are treated following an occupational accident.
